At the midpoint of its Horizon Europe journey, the EMERGE project is showing promising results in advancing green energy innovation across Africa. This latest edition of the EMERGE Newsletter highlights the project’s achievements, upcoming events, and partner contributions.

Key Highlights of EMERGE Mid-Term Progress

The EMERGE project is making substantial progress in delivering practical tools and fostering collaboration to support Africa’s green energy transition.

One of the project’s core achievements is the development of the EMERGE Toolbox—a suite of open-access, state-of-the-art modelling tools designed to support sustainable energy planning. These tools enable local stakeholders to carry out scenario simulations, optimise storage solutions, and design resilient energy systems tailored to their needs.

The project has also successfully organised two AU–EU Exchange Events, which play a vital role in knowledge transfer and capacity building. Through hands-on training sessions and expert workshops, these exchanges are empowering African and European partners to work together on real-world energy challenges.

EMERGE’s work has been showcased on the international stage, including participation in high-level events such as the 1st African SDEWES Conference in Morocco, where the project’s approach to innovation and partnership was presented to a global audience.

Looking ahead, EMERGE is preparing for several important events, including activities in Nigeria, Cabo Verde, and Croatia, which will further advance the project’s mission to drive green energy innovation and deepen AU–EU cooperation.
