New Peer-Reviewed Publication: A Comparative Assessment of the EMERGE Modelling Toolbox
July 8, 2026EMERGE and LocalRES are joining forces for a joint online webinar dedicated to one of the key challenges of the energy transition: how to design and adapt digital tools that support effective renewable energy planning while responding to local stakeholder needs and data realities. Hosted by CARTIF, the webinar, “Co-designing Digital Tools for Renewable Energy Planning”, will take place online on 25 June 2026 at 11:30 CEST and will bring together researchers, energy experts, policymakers, and practitioners from both projects to exchange experiences and lessons learned.
As Europe and Africa continue advancing towards more sustainable and resilient energy systems, digital tools are playing an increasingly important role in supporting decision-making, grid planning, renewable energy integration, and stakeholder engagement. However, the successful implementation of such tools depends not only on technical excellence but also on their ability to address local needs, data availability, and user requirements.
The webinar will showcase how EMERGE and LocalRES approach these challenges through collaborative and participatory methodologies. Participants will gain insights into the development and adaptation of renewable energy planning tools across different regional and pilot contexts.
The programme will include presentations from both projects, a technical contribution from CIRCE on grid-oriented tools for renewable energy integration, and a moderated discussion focusing on data challenges, stakeholder involvement, tool adaptation, and opportunities for transferring knowledge between regions.
The session will conclude with an open Q&A, offering participants the opportunity to engage directly with project experts and contribute to the discussion.
