The EMERGE Green Africa project will organise the 2nd AU–AU Study Visit on 24–25 June 2026 in Oujda, Morocco, hosted by Université Mohammed Premier (UMP). The event is part of the EMERGE R&I and participatory lab activities supporting cross-continental and cross-national knowledge transfer between African and European partners working on clean energy transition, innovation, and energy system modelling.

The 2^nd AU–AU Study Visit component will provide participants with the opportunity to discover industrial and innovation facilities in Morocco through a series of organised visits hosted by UMP and project partners. Planned visits include APTIV Manufacturing, HIRSHMANN Manufacturing, the Rapid Prototyping Center, and the AEOLON Manufacturing plant in Nador.

Organised alongside the study visit, the 3rd EMERGE Policy Lab continues the series of policy dialogue events in Mali and Mozambique. The Policy Labs are designed as interactive spaces for dialogue and validation of policy recommendations tailored to the EMERGE pilot regions.

The Morocco edition will focus on discussions around Morocco’s energy transition priorities, current challenges, reforms, and possible transition scenarios, while also identifying recommendations to strengthen public policies supporting clean energy transition.

As part of the programme, participants will also be introduced to EMERGE tools supporting energy transition analysis and policymaking processes, including CEPIA and GREENADVISE. The discussions will explore how these tools can support planning, scenario development, and decision-making processes in African contexts.

The event will bring together policymakers, researchers, innovation actors, regional stakeholders, and representatives from organisations involved in the energy sector and public policy from Morocco, Mozambique, Cape Verde, and the wider EMERGE consortium.

The event is part of the broader EMERGE Green Africa initiative funded under Horizon Europe, which supports AU–EU cooperation on sustainable and resilient energy systems through stakeholder engagement, innovation, and energy system modelling approaches.

Within the consortium, ESEIA contributes to the coordination and communication of the EMERGE R&I and participatory lab activities together with project partners.
