Why LIDA Network?

LIDA Network brings deep roots in African development communication, with a strong focus on fact-checking, climate and financial literacy, and investigative storytelling. By empowering African journalists and communities with accurate and impactful narratives, LIDA has become a trusted voice in shaping how development and sustainability stories are told.

The organisation also has proven experience in energy storytelling. Through initiatives such as the explainer series “Decoding Africa’s Energy Journey,” LIDA has shed light on the challenges and opportunities of expanding energy access across the continent. In early 2025, it went a step further by convening energy sector experts from Nairobi, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone for a dialogue on “Partnerships for Sustainable Energy Access in Africa,” reinforcing its role as a convener of meaningful debate on energy transitions.

Beyond content creation, LIDA invests in people. Since 2023, the network has trained more than 200 journalists from 15 African countries, equipping them with the skills needed to report credibly on energy, climate, and development issues. This capacity-building work ensures that the next generation of African storytellers can amplify voices and solutions that matter most.

Its membership in the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance further underlines its credibility and commitment to advancing editorial integrity across Africa.

About the partnership

As part of this collaboration, LIDA Network proudly supported the EMERGE 1st AU–AU Study Visit in Abuja (9–10 July 2025), amplifying the voices of policymakers and innovators working toward Africa’s clean energy future.

Together, this partnership will elevate EMERGE’s visibility and impact—highlighting inclusive, data-driven green innovations and policy efforts across African communities. By tapping into LIDA’s storytelling expertise, multimedia platforms, and network of journalists, EMERGE will ensure that the narratives driving Africa’s energy transition resonate widely.
