Praia, Cabo Verde | 17 October 2025 – The EMERGE project consortium gathered for its fourth General Assembly, hosted by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in Praia, Cabo Verde. The meeting took place alongside the ONEPlanET final event and the 2nd EMERGE Co-Design Workshop, bringing together experts and policymakers and reinforcing synergies among AU–EU collaborations on sustainable energy and climate resilience.

Chaired by UNIZAG FSB, the meeting brought together EMERGE project partners to review progress and align strategic directions for the next implementation phase. Partners shared updates on the development of the EMERGE Common System Architecture and Knowledge Base, the progress of the Toolbox for energy planning and modelling, and ongoing capacity-building and policy activities within the Research & Innovation and Policy Laboratory. The consortium also reviewed advancements in pilot demonstrations and replication strategies.

The meeting included a site visit to the Center for Renewable Energies and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI) and the photovoltaic (PV) installations, offering participants a first-hand look at Cabo Verde’s renewable energy achievements and local innovation ecosystem.

The 4th EMERGE General Assembly concluded with next steps, setting the framework for the next coordination period. The EMERGE consortium reaffirmed its shared commitment to advancing collaborative research, capacity building, and tool-based decision support for green development in Africa.
