Praia, Cabo Verde | 16 October 2025 – The 2nd EMERGE Co-Design Workshop, hosted by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), took place on 16 October 2025 alongside the ONEPlanET final event, bringing together experts, partners, and policymakers to advance regional cooperation in sustainable energy and climate resilience.

The session focused on how open-source digital tools and co-design practices can support data-driven decision-making and strengthen regional energy resilience. By involving local experts directly in model development and scenario analysis, EMERGE reinforces digital sovereignty and ensures that solutions are tailored to real community needs.

Key highlights included

• Presentation of the Three Pilot Models applying the WEF Nexus approach in African river basins
• Demonstration of a System Dynamics-based Energy Simulation Model and Socio-Economic Module
• Interactive testing of the ONESim web-based simulation tool
• Official launch of the ONEPlanET Knowledge Hub, a digital platform for resource sharing and collaboration

Additionally, a Sister Projects Roundtable with EMERGE and EPIC Africa provided opportunities to exchange methodologies, compare tools, and identify areas for synergy. The event concluded with a session using the ONEPlay Serious Game, illustrating real-world decision-making within the Water–Energy–Food Nexus.
